A Green Gift Tradition – Season Passes

A reader was recently asking me about low impact gifts and what I would recommend for kids for Christmas. Well I certainly have my list of green gifts and all that jazz but probably my favorite gift idea is to get season passes for your local zoo. We have done this for years and it is a gift [...]

A Great Holiday Staycation

I have been enjoying our holiday staycation immensly. It ends when my hubby goes back to work tomorrow and I am sad to see it end. For Thanksgiving we went to enjoy two days with family who live a short car drive away. We had our Thanksgiving meal there. I found it easy to stay vegetarian [...]

Wildcraft Game on Sale!!

Just had to share this bit of news. The game I raved about last week (read my review) is on sale for 3 days. Half price! Wildcraft would make an awesome, eco friendly, fun, and yet educational gift for children and adults like. Hi there! What are you doing reading this in your feed reader?? Stop [...]

Second Hand Finds for the Week

I had an awesome week for finding/buying second hand things I have long been looking for this week. The thrift store near my home had this awesome picnic basket for only $4. It is sturdy and in very good condition. It came with 4 plastic plates, plastic cups, and plastic utensils that appear to be [...]

SIX DIFFERENT WAYS

Cork!

After coming across the work of designer Ryan Frank and his “Free Range Furniture” earlier today, I knew I wanted to post about it.  Not only is eco-friendly responsible and right now extremely in, but with Frank’s designs it’s also innovative and practical. Called the Ipouch, this case is made from fabric backed 100% cork with [...]

Lampost

This light by Jaren Goh caught my attention, so I guess today we will continue on yesterday’s theme of innovative lighting.  Seeming to randomly sprout from their base, these lights combine clean, minimal lines with sporadic, non-symmetrical placement.  Sure to be the focal point in any room in which it’s used, the appropriately titled Lampost [...]

Pinch Light

Lighting so versatile it suits your mood. That’s what you get with Pinch Lighting, an innovative new lighting concept that lets you clip electro-luminescent sheets of paper to a hard wire clip. Simply clip on new “lights” to change the look of your space.  Fun and practical, I hope this concept comes fully to life [...]

Made in Hollywood

Saw this over on design milk today and thought you all would enjoy it.  These tables come from Made in Hollywood, an Ireland based design firm that creates unique, custom pieces for its clients. I love the incorporation of words into each of these table’s designs and how the word choices are obvious, yet add [...]

Barcode Design

When was the last time you really paid attention to a barcode?  Well that’s about to change thanks to Barcode Revolution. Based in Tokyo, Japan, Barcode Revolution is challenging companies to think about the way in which their valuable product real estate gets used.  Without interrupting the function of the barcode, Barcode Revolution has come [...]

Time For Turkey

With the holidays right around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about how to fit all of your family and friends in your home.  While I hope you’ve figured this out for Thanksgiving since it’s tomorrow, there are many more holidays right around the corner to consider as well.  Expandable tables are always a [...]
